Nature: Indian River Delivers Santa through Bay City
Location: Bay City
On Sunday afternoon, December 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company delivered Santa through the development streets of Bay City off Long Neck Road. The event included fire trucks with lights flashing and music playing, with none other than Santa Claus himself waving to children and families along the community streets.
At 3 p.m., there was a pre-arranged fire prevention event which ended with the culmination of Santa and “The Grinch” stopping by for a photo opportunity and at the conclusion of the event, the fire trucks rolled through community streets.
Although, the Indian River Fire District, has experienced tremendous growth in the number of housing developments, homes and residents, this initiative may be expanded to maintain our ‘hometown’ feel and charm.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is evaluating this initiative for consideration and further implementation; however, our fire department’s primary mission remains emergency response, so residents are encouraged to be patient if Santa’s sleigh—or rather, fire truck—needs to veer off course for an urgent call.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company stipulates that “it’s a real privilege to serve all of our residents. We hope this program spreads a little extra joy. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday season!”
Thank you for your understanding.
