Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Sunday December 8^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on the John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Rite Aid.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad. It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision, air bag deployment with possibility of one person with a head injury. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 and Tanker 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a silver Jeep Patriot struck the rear of a maroon Chevrolet Silverado pick-up causing damage to both vehicles.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of the John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
