Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 30682 Waterfront Dr., Stonewater Creek, DE 19966

On Thursday, November 28th, 2024, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Millsboro (83) fire departments were alerted for a residential structure fire on Waterfront Drive in the Stonewater Creek development off Indian Mission Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River have included Tower 80, Incident Command 80, and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 and #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation efforts, exterior evaluation of the facility with no visible issues and an interior evaluation with smoke alarm sounding and smell of electrical was present. All mutual aid responding companies were ask to stage prior to arrival.

It appears that an electrical outlet popped earlier causing an issue and now the residence smoke alarms are sounding with smell of electrical present.  After evaluation, it was determined to be actual fire however overloaded electrical outlets were present.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

All emergency response apparatus were returned to their respective stations.
