Nature: Traffic Collision - High Mechanism (motorcycle)

On Thursday morning, November 21st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on Hollymount Road and Phillips Branch Road. It was reported to be a motorcycle versus a vehicle as a rear end type collision. Additional emergency alerts included the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Sussex County Paramedics.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery and other incident mitigation services.
A silver Jeep Grand Cherokee and a black motorcycle were traveling on Hollymount Road when the motorcycle struck the rear of the Jeep at the intersection causing damage to both vehicles and injuring the motorcyclist. The Delaware State Police Aviation units was cancelled. The Mid Sussex Rescue Squad transported one to the nearby medical facilities.
The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance with the complete closure of the intersection for the duration of the incident.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
