During the days of November 19th thru 21st, 2024, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has been alerted for automatic fire alarm soundings with high life hazards – sprinkler waterflow alarms causing disturbances and other middle of the night concerns.

Emergency response units from Indian River have included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation efforts, notification of the complex maintenance personnel, exterior evaluation of the impact facility as well as an interior evaluation and complaint notifications to the Office of the Delaware State Fire Marshal.

The rationale for the alarm sounding has been undetermined and the facility maintenance personnel and complex management personnel have been unresponsive to the automatic alarm happenings at this facility.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office has been apprised of the alarm sounding incidents as well as tenant parking violation(s) in the fire lane which hamper the effective maneuvering of emergency response apparatus. It is desirous that these formal notifications will result in forthcoming corrective action.
