Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Wednesday evening, November 13^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of the Dollar General just west of Giant Foods.  It was reported to be a three vehicle collision with the possibility of two patients.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex (91) and Millsboro (83) Emergency Medical Service (EMS) units.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery as overall incident mitigation activities.

It appears that a small grey Chevrolet S-10 Pick-up struck the rear of a white Honda CRV which struck the rear of a Toyota Sequoia SUV.  The S-10 pick-up and Honda were rendered inoperable at the incident location. The S-10 pick up suffered extensive front-end damage, the Honda suffered significant damage to the rear and front of the vehicle, and the Toyota suffered rear end damage.  Three persons were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of John J. Williams Highway between Plaza Drive and Bay Farm Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
