Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 17 Comanche Circle Warwick Park, DE 19966

On Sunday afternoon, November 10th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Dagsboro (73) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Comanche Circle in the Warwick Park development off River Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Chief 80-15 and Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial assessment upon arrival on scene which included utility location and smoke showing from the C side of the structure.  Tower 80 was directed to advance a fire suppress attack line to the front door of the residential structure, Engine 80 was requested to provide Tower 80 with a water supply line as well as having available resources report to the manpower pool for any designated assignments. Firefighters performed natural ventilation as well as positive pressure ventilation, checked for extensions, and assisted the homeowner where possible.

It appears that the residential owner was cooking which resulted in a cooking fire that was suppressed by a fire blanket and fire extinguisher which created a significant fire stop prior to arrival of emergency first responders.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with limiting scene access.
