Nature: Elevator / Escalator Rescue

On Sunday afternoon, November 10th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an elevator rescue incident on Windswept Drive in the Peninsula complex off Bay Farm Road.  It was reported to be an occupant stuck in the elevator between floors with an issue involving a canine.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine 80-1 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident evaluation and assistance where needed. The process included securing and verifying the safety of the canine as well as the occupant of the elevator.

The situation was an elevator occupant with some type of concern which was resolved with a favorable resolution for both the occupant and canine. The local EMS provider was requested to provide and evaluation of the elevator occupant.

There were no injuries associated with the incident.
