Nature: Medical Emergency – Landing Zone Assignment
Location: The Peninsula
On Saturday evening, November 9th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a medical emergency involving an unconscious subject in the Peninsula which necessitated a landing zoning assignment. The landing zone was designated to be at the entrance to Peninsula Lakes off Bay Farm Road.
Emergency response units from Indian River include Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit - Trooper 2.
Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control and securing the landing zone for the aviation as well as assisting EMS personnel with patient transfer from ambulance to the aviation unit.
The patient suffered a medical condition which necessitated transportation to Christiana Medical Center.
