Nature: Outside Fire – Standby Assignment for Rehoboth Beach VFC

On Friday evening, November 1st, the Indian River (80) and Bethany Beach (70) fire companies were alerted to provide a standby assignment for the Rehoboth Beach (86) Volunteer Fire Company.  Rehoboth Beach (86) was alerted for an outside fire at the Taco Bell Restaurant on Coastal Highway and then requested the Lewes (82) Fire Department to respond before seeking standby or cover-up assignments from Indian River (80) and Bethany Beach (70).

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments for Indian River included a standby assignment at Rehoboth’s Station #2 and Bethany Beach to Rehoboth's Station #1 before being changed to respond to the incident location on Coastal Highway.

Standby crews were assigned to the manpower pool before specific assignments were delegated.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and scene access for the duration of the incident with closure of the complex entranceways from Coastal Highway.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
