Nature: Carbon Monoxide Detector

Location: 26263 Milby Circle, The Villas at Walden, DE 19951

On Thursday afternoon, October 31st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a carbon monoxide detector activation on Milby Circle in The Villas at Walden development off Sloan Road.  It was reported that the carbon monoxide detectors were sounding within the residence.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Tanker 80 and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments completed a 360 exterior evaluation of the residential structure, initiated monitoring and evaluation of the interior of residence with no detection or readings.  Rescue 80 was assigned a hydrant detail.  

After consultation with the residential occupant, it was determined that the batteries were recently changed within the detectors and no actual detector readings were prevalent on the inside of the residence. 

All emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
