Nature: Residential Structure Fire – Flying Bridge Court

Location: 26178 Flying Bridge Ct Rehoboth Shores, DE 19966

On Thursday afternoon, October 31^st, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), Millsboro (83), and Milton (85) volunteer fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Flying Bridge Court in the Rehoboth Shores development off Long Neck Road. It was reported that the back porch area was on fire. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Tanker 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.  Additional mutual aid assistance was generated from the Millsboro (83), Lewes (82), and Milton (85) fire companies.

Emergency response crew assignments included location and suppression of the fire, exterior evaluation and initial incident size up with location of utilities and exterior conditions, as well as location of water supply from the nearby hydrants.

Initial arriving fire suppression apparatus reported nothing showing and no extensions into the structure with all responding apparatus from mutual aid assistance being cancelled.  Tanker 80 deployed an 1¾” fire suppression line to saturate the designed area and to fully extinguish the fire. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated scene access and traffic.
