Sunday June, 21 2015 @ 07:22 Nature: Transformer Fire Location: Pot Nets Coveside 36344 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday morning, June 21st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a transformer fire in the vicinity of Pot Nets Coveside. It was reported to be a transformer fire resulting from osprey nests. Emergency response units included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response unit assignments include incident assessment and reporting information to the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center to alert the respective utility companies. It appears that the nesting osprey did not cause the transformer fire or power outrage; however, another utility pole did have a fully burnt transformer causing the outrages. Both pole numbers were communicated to the Emergency Operations Center and all responding apparatus were returned. Additional information may be reviewed via the following website: |
