Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 28963 Mount Joy Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday afternoon, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road between Peaceful Way and Cannon Road in the area of the DSWA Transfer Station.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision with minor injuries.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization where needed, traffic control with the temporary closure of Mount Joy Road, patient stabilization where needed, fluid and debris recovery and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a maroon Hyundai Sonata sedan and a green KIA Sol collided on Mount Joy Road causing significant damage to both vehicles. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of Mount Joy Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
