Nature: Automatic Crash Notification – Vehicle Accident – Long Neck Road

Location: Long Neck Rd and Goose Pond Rd Rehoboth Shores, DE 19966

On Tuesday morning, October 8th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic crash notification on Long Neck Road near Goose Pond Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  Emergency first responders identified a two-vehicle collision with the possibly of two patients.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization where needed, patient stabilization where needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a dark gray Honda Accord and a blue Lincoln MKX collided on Long Neck Road near the entrance to Rehoboth Shores causing damage to both vehicles.  One vehicle remained in the roadway and the other was on the roadway shoulder.  Both vehicles were inoperable.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident with the temporary roadway closure of Long Neck Road.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
