Nature: Fire Prevention Initiative

Location: Long Neck Elementary School

On Monday, October 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in collaboration with the Long Neck Elementary School commenced with the annual fire prevention program offering fire prevention educational and safety initiatives to enhance fire safety and prevention awareness.

These activities commenced with a fire drill at the school location and then the fire company personnel fully geared up provided a discussion regarding your friendly firefighter which was followed up with an opportunity for the grade specific children to see a fire truck up close and review of tools and equipment for fire suppression.

Each group of children evaluated and reviewed the apparatus with a brief presentation regarding the operational need and purpose of the equipment and apparatus.  Each classroom was provided grade specific publications to reinforce the fire safety topics and discussions.
