Nature: Fire Prevention Kick Off Event – Rehoboth Beach

Location: Bandstand – Rehoboth Ave

On Sunday, October 6th, the Rehoboth Beach (86) Volunteer Fire Company hosted their Annual Fire Prevention Day around the Bandstand commencing at 9 a.

The event hosted emergency first responders from throughout Sussex County and were able to see fire trucks, firefighters, personal watercraft used for water rescues, police officers, EMTs and many more public servants who work hard every day to help keep individuals and families safe. Anyone interested in joining the fire company or another local companies including auxiliaries are encouraged to stop by and talk to any member at any respective fire company booth.

Service providers included members of the Sussex County Emergency Medical Services (EMS); fire companies from Indian River, Lewes, and Rehoboth Beach as well as the Rehoboth Beach Police Department, United States Coast Guard – Indian River Squadron, Delaware State Fire School and more.

The 2024 Fire Prevention Theme is ‘Smoke alarms: make them work for you!’

This year’s focus on working smoke alarms comes in response to NFPA data, which shows that the majority of U.S. home fire deaths continue to occur in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.

Representative from the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and Auxiliary attended the event and participated with information distribution as well as recruitment efforts.

Additional information regarding the day's activities can be viewed via the following website: https://rehobothbeachfire.com/gallery/detail?id=51373.

Thank you for stopping by and joining us throughout the day.
