Nature: Wires Down / Arcing Incident Upgraded to Vehicle Accident

Location: Hollymount Rd and Beaver Dam Rd Harbeson, DE 19951

On Saturday morning, October 5^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a wires down incident on Hollymount Road and Beaver Dam Road.  Shortly thereafter, it was upgraded to a vehicle accident with additional alerts for the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  It was reported that a motorcycle and vehicle were involved and vehicle was traveling down Hollymount Road leaking fluids.  

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included notification of the respective utility service provider with pole numbers and incident descriptions, identified and located a vehicle down the road on the shoulder between Hurdle Ditch and Zoar Roads, vehicle stabilization if needed, patient stabilization if needed as well as incident mitigation.

It appears that a motorcycle and vehicle were involved in an incident that resulted in the utility pole being severed and front end damage to the vehicle, the motorcyclist declined medical attention.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control where needed.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
