Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

On Friday evening, October 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident with medics in the vicinity of the Paradise Pub.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad. The Lewes (82) Fire Department responded to the incident location as well.  It was reported to be a single vehicle incident with a vehicle hitting a pole, a parked vehicle on onto a sidewalk.  It was unknown if the vehicle hit the building or not.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Other responding units included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignment included vehicle stabilization, facility stabilization if needed, fluid and debris recovery, medical evaluation of the vehicle’s occupant, traffic control where needed.

It appears that a small black Ford crossover type vehicle struck a building support column, a parked car, and when up onto the sidewalk and possibility hitting the building.  Emergency response personnel did provide an evaluation of the vehicle’s occupant.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted and coordinated the traffic control responsibilities for the duration of the meeting.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
