Nature: Fire Nature Unknown

Location: 27174 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday evening, September 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a fire nature unknown incident on John J. Williams Highway near Gull Point Road.  It was upgraded to shed fire (non-vehicle sized).

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments activation of the 1¾” fire suppression attack line from the front of the first arriving apparatus with the next due until pulling behind Tanker 80 and the other units performing a Level 1 Stage on John J. Williams Highway.

It appears that the property occupant was having a control burn scenario in a burn pit which extended into the nearby grassy area and spreading into the shed building.  All personnel assisted with the initial suppression assignments.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control on John J. Williams Highway.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall responded to the incident location.
