Nature: Vehicle Accident – John J. Williams Highway between Legion Road & Seymour Lane

Location: 26397 John J. Williams Highway, Millsboro

On Wednesday afternoon, August 28^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway between Legion Road and Seymour Lane.  It was reported to be a multiple vehicle chain reaction type collision.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 and Tanker 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  The Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Millsboro EMS units were also dispatched to the incident location.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization where needed, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control with closure of John J. Williams Highway between Legion Road and Bay Farm Road. 

It appears that a gray Mercury Milan sedan struck the rear of a Toyota Sequia SUV causing it to hit another vehicle.  Both the Mercury and Toyota sustained significant damage rendering them inoperable.

The Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close this segment of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident. 

The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
