Nature: Washdown (Fuel Spill) / Property Damage Vehicle Accident

Location: Pep Up (80)

Address:  24858 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday afternoon, August 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a wash down assignment resulting from a property damage vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at the entrance to the Nanticoke Crossing Shopping Center.  It was a two vehicle collision with no actual occupant injuries.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional units on-scene included the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, initial occupant evaluation, and traffic control for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a black GMC Yukon collided with a utility body commercial truck near the intersection causing significant damage to both vehicles.  All occupants refused any medical attention and waited for towing contractors to retrieve their vehicles.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
