Nature: Vehicle Accident – BLS

Location: John J. Williams Highway & Indian Mission Road, Millsboro

On Saturday evening, August 3^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident at the John J. Williams Highway and Indian Mission Road intersection.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and Millsboro EMS.  It was reported to be a two vehicle collision with vehicle remaining in the roadway.

Emergency response units from Indian River were Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Incident Command 80, Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization where needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a Cadillac XTS and a Ford Escape collided causing front end damage to both vehicles rendering them inoperable.  There were two occupants transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident altering the normal travel lanes for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
