Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Mid Sussex Rescue Squad Headquarters Building

On Thursday afternoon, July 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Indian Mission Road on the property of the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  It was reported to be a vehicle into the nearby ditch and wooded area as well as being overturned.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area, Engine #80-1 and Tanker 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control with the closure of Indian Mission Road and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a red Hyundai sedan was traveling on Indian Mission Road and left roadway crossing the emergency apparatus apron of the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad building, hitting the ground embankment and propelling itself into the nearby ditch and wooded area.  The vehicle was overturned in the wooded area.  All occupants were out of the vehicle upon arrival of apparatus from Indian River.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of Indian Mission Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
