Nature: Trailer Fire

Location: Across from Serendipity Restaurant (80)

Address:  28532 Cerulean Lane Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday afternoon, July 3rd, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83) and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted for a trailer fire on Cerulean Lane in the old Satterfield’s Trailer Park in Oak Orchard.  It was reported to be a trailer on fire with notations that the structure was just torn down the day before and now the pile in on fire.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Tanker 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression activities, notification of the Delmarva Power because a utility pole was impacted by the fire, establishment of a water supply line for the rescue engine and traffic control.  The mutual aid company responses were cancelled while enroute to the incident location.

It appears that a contractor was demolishing the former structure and the debris caught fire after the contractor had departed the incident location.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic with the closure of River Road because of the apparatus staging area.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
