 SHIRLEY A. Paulley

Shirley Ann Paulley, age 83, died peacefully on June 21, 2024 at her daughter’s home in New Oxford, PA.  A longtime resident of Lima, PA and more recently of Millsboro, DE, Shirley was the beloved wife of the late James C. “Skip” Paulley who preceded her in death in 2015 after 56 years of marriage.  Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and a proud grandmother.

Born in Chester to the late Charles and Catherine Martin, Shirley was raised in the Media area where she lived for most of her life.  She graduated from Media High School and worked for many years as a secretary at Indian Lane Elementary School.  She was a former member of Lima Methodist Church.

Always civically engaged, Shirley knitted mittens, hats and scarfs for the Boys & Girls Club, Stockings for Soldiers, and was an active member of Indian River Volunteer Fire Company Ladies’ Auxiliary for 14 years.  After moving to Millsboro, DE two decades ago, Shirley joined Cheers Senior Center where she made wonderful friendships.

In her free time, Shirley enjoyed knitting, crafting and bird watching.  She was a lover of going to Shady Maple, chocolate peanut butter ice cream and was the ultimate Philadelphia Eagles fan.

In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Patty Paulley, in 2022.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Debbie Paulley of New Oxford, PA and her three grandchildren Danielle Barron, Paul Stockett, and Gabriella “Sally” Stockett.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Shirley’s life on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home, 15 E. Fourth St. Media, PA. There will be a calling from 10-11 am. The service will begin at 11 am with burial to follow at Edgewood Memorial Park in Glen Mills.

The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, you might consider a memorial donation to Indian River Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary - www.irvfc.com
