Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics
Location: Long Neck Rd and Pot Nets Rd Millsboro, DE 19966
Notes: On the curve
On Wednesday, June 12th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident with possible entrapment on Long Neck Road near Pot Nets Bayside Road. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company for a rescue assist as there was reported entrapment.
Emergency response units from Indian River Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization where needed, perimeter evaluation for possible occupant ejection, traffic control with limited access, and incident mitigation
It appears that a dark colored Toyota Solaro left the roadway for unknown reasons becoming airborne and rolling over after striking a group of trees. The initial arriving emergency first responder did confirm entrapment assisting with extrication. Chief 80-15 arrived and performed an initial assessment, confirmed no longer entrapment and cancelled all other resources associated with the entrapment alert including the extra rescue and aviation.
The Mid Sussex Rescue Squad did transport one person to the nearby medical facilities for additional observation.
The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control and limited scene access.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
