Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Banks Rd and Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday evening, June 12^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Banks Road near Long Neck Road.  It was reported to be two vehicles with four (4) persons in one vehicle and unknown occupants in other vehicle.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Incident Command 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization where needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery as well as overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a black Hyundai Sonota and a black KIA Optima collided on Banks Road just east of Long Neck Road.  The Kia sustained front end damage and the Hyundai sustained driver’s side rear panel damage causing both vehicles inoperable.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and limited scene access as well as closing this segment of Banks Road for the duration of the incident.

The Mid Sussex Rescue Squad did transport those vehicle occupants that desired additional evaluation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
