Nature: Automatic Crash Notification

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Silicato Dr Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday, May 31^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic crash notification on John J. Williams Highway and Silicato Drive.  It was reported via an automatic crash notification cellular application which was verified by the initial emergency first responder.  The incident was amended to a single vehicle accident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional emergency response units included the Sussex County Paramedics and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, fuel and debris recovery, traffic control, vehicle stabilization, and assistance with patient stabilization, as well as overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a brown KIA Optima was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway striking commercial brick marque signage causing significant damage to the vehicle.

The emergency medical providers did evaluate one for transportation to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
