On Thursday morning, May 30^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Millsboro (83) Volunteer Fire Company with a residential structural fire on Washington Street Extension.   The person cutting the grass notified 911 that the residential structure was on fire.

Immediately, therefore, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident at John J. Williams Highway and Indian Mission Road at the entrance to the Shell Station.  It was reported to be a two vehicle collision.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility.  Emergency response units were quickly able to identify that the vehicle accident was property damage only which did not need any fire apparatus and proceeded to the residential structure fire.

Emergency response crew initiated an aggressive fire suppression attack line through the front door, coordinated a primary search of the structure, and coordinated other assignments as needed Indian River's assignments included assistance to manpower pool for direction and assist with ventilation.

Additional information may be published via the Millsboro Fire Company as this was their alarm. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigation.
