Nature: Automatic Crash Notification

Address: 28211 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

Cross Streets: Bulls Eye Ln/Willow Ln

Early Tuesday morning, April 30th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic crash notification incident on John J. Williams Highway between Bulls Eye and Willow Lanes.  It was reported to be an automatic crash dial incident with no additional information.

The Sussex County Emergency Operations Center was able to raise the vehicle occupants on the cell phone and identified that there were two adults with a 2-year-old children in the vehicle at the time and they were uncertain of their exact location.  The Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to provide a Rescue assist.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control and incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that the black KIA Forte was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking an access barrier parallel to the roadway rendering the vehicle inoperable.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
