Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Bay Farm Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday afternoon, May 2^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams at the Bay Farm Road intersection.  It was reported to be a two vehicle collision with the east bound travel lanes of John J. Williams Highway blocked.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization where needed, traffic control with limited travel lanes, fluid and debris recovery, as well as overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a black Acura MDX and grey Mercedes Benz SUV collided at the intersection causing injuries as well as rendering both vehicles inoperable.  One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
