Nature: Traffic Collision w/Injuries

On Friday evening, April 26^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Bay Farm Road near School Lane.  It was reported to be a single vehicle incident; however, two vehicles were located with damage. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Susse Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, search and evaluation for vehicle occupant(s), assistance with patient stabilization where needed.

It appears that one vehicle did not successfully navigate the intersection of Bay Farm Road and School Lane and struck some landscaping decoration to prevent vehicles from accessing the private property while a second unattended vehicle was down the road on the shoulder with rear-end damage.  It was not known if both vehicles were involved in the same incident and the Delaware State Police were searching for an occupant that fled the scene.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating and the State Police Aviation Unit assisted in the incident.
