Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Long Neck Road Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday morning, April 26^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road near John J. Williams Highway.  It was reported to be two vehicle rear-end type collision.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police – Aviation Unit – Trooper #2, and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization where needed, fluid and debris recovery, and traffic control. 

It appears that a silver Hyundai sedan was struck from behind by a black Mercury Grand Marquis sedan rendering both vehicles inoperable.  One occupant was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
