Nature: Innovative Solutions for Unique Fire Challenges – Training Seminar

Location: Indian River Station #1 – Oak Orchard

On Monday evening, April 22nd, Atlantic Emergency Solutions in conjunction with the Indian River and Milton fire departments hosted a training seminar to demonstrate two innovative solutions in action.  These illustrations were structure fires with solar panels and electric vehicle fires.

  1. Solar panels can product lethal amounts of DC electricity even it power is shut off at the structure.  PV-Stop is a fast, effective solution for shutting down solar panels and doesn’t cause any damage to the solar systems and can be peeled off to reactive the system.  PV-Stop is a 'liquid blanket' that shuts down solar panels in seconds and eliminates the risk of high voltage DC electrocution

  2. Fire blankets isolate fires in electric vehicles, appliance / kitchen appliance fires and effectively controls toxic fumes and smoke.  Extinguishes fire in minutes and help to quickly traffic flow.

This training evolution involved two components:  instruction (classroom) seminar and live demonstration involving a burning vehicle and applying the Bridgehill Fire Blanket.

This training evolution was attended by many neighboring mutual aid fire companies such as Georgetown Fire Department, Lewes Fire Department, Milton Fire Department, Gumboro Fire Company, Selbyville Fire Company and Indian River Fire Company,

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company would like to acknowledge and thank all of the participants for their attendance and participation as well as Atlantic Emergency Solutions for hosting this initiative.
