Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

On Wednesday, April 17^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at Bay Farm Road.  It was reported to be a two vehicle accident.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Millsboro Emergency Medical Services, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization where needed, assistance with patient extrication and packaging for transport, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, notification of DELDOT Traffic Management Control for roadway signate repair and replacement, and overall incident mitigation efforts.  The aviation unit was cancelled.

It appears that a Honda CRV and a Nissan Sentra collided at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Bay Farm Road causing extensive damage to both vehicles.  One motorist was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
