Nature: Electrical Hazard

On Tuesday, April 16^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an appliance fire / electrical hazard incident on Dania Drive off Indian Mission Road.  It was reported to be a smoking stove issue.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-3 and #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial 360•degree evaluation of the external facility as well as an initial interior assessment focusing on the appliances.  The respective appliance was disconnected from the electrical source and the utility box breakers shut off.  Additional interior evaluations continued.

It appears that an electrical appliance was the issue associated with the burning odor and possibly an electrical condition.  The respective appliance(s) were disconnected from the electrical source with the respective electrical breakers being turned off.  The homeowner was notified to contact an electrician for further evaluation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

All respective units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
