Nature: Outside Fire

Location: Long Neck Rd and Blue Mist Dr Fairfield At Long Neck, DE 19966

On Sunday evening, April 14^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an outside fire incident on Long Neck Road near the Fairfield development off Long Neck Road. It was reported to be an outside fire along Long Neck Road with exposures to nearby residential structures.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression, water supply, exposure evaluation and traffic control.  Brush #80-0 and Tanker 80 were assigned with fire suppression and Rescue 80 was assigned to provide water supply to Brush 80-0.

It appears that brush, marsh reeds, and vegetation along Long Neck and Mariner’s Cove caught fire and was being driven by the wind conditions.  There were some exposure concerns that needed additional evaluation.
