Nature: Woods Fire

Location: 31535 Anchored Way Milton, DE 19968

 

On Sunday afternoon, April 14th, the Indian River (80), Milton (85), Georgetown (77), Ellendale (75) fire companies were alerted to assist the Lewes (82) Fire Department with a woods fire incident on Anchored Way off Cool Spring Road.  It was reported to be a brush pile that out of control.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.   All responding units from Indian River and Georgetown were tasked with accessing the fire from the Hopkins Farm Road / Pecan Drive area.

Emergency response units were assigned to assist with fire suppression activities utilizing the brush trucks, rakes, axes, Indian tanks, and booster lines. Tankers were utilized for water supply and manpower resources on this side of the fire ground operations.

It appears that this incident originated as a brush pile fire on Anchored Way off Cool Spring Road that got out of control. 

The DNREC officials have been contacted for following up consideration.

Additional resources from the State Forestry Division were requested to provide assistance with fire suppression.
