Nature: Field Fire

On Tuesday afternoon, April 9^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a field fire on Bishop Street in the Enchanted Acres development off Long Neck Road. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Utility 80-8 with Polaris 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80-0 and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident size-up with an estimate 50’ x 50’ area of woods and brush on fire, fire suppression activities commenced with the arrival of the brush truck and Tanker 80 provided a water supply.

It appears that there were numerous mattresses and other household debris involved in the incident as well as surrounding leaves and vegetation. The origin of the fire is suspicious.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal and DNREC were requested to respond to the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal Is investigating.
