Nature: Structure Fire
Location: 18245 Show Jumper Lane, Showfield, DE 19958
On Thursday evening, April 4th, the Indian River (80), Rehoboth Beach (86), and Milton (85) fire departments were alerted to assist the Lewes Fire Department with a residential structure fire on Show Jumper Lane off Gills Neck Road in Lewes. Additional emergency alerted included the Sussex County Paramedics.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crews assisted with assignments delegated by the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) and did include some interior and exterior tasks. All responders coordinated tasks such as establishing a water supply from nearby hydrants, performing primary and secondary search of the entire structure, fire suppression activities, disconnection of utility services, ladder deployment, ventilation, and other assignments as needed.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
There were no reported firefighter or civilian injuries.

Lewes homeowner claims lightning strike caused fire
LEWES, Del. - A homeowner claimed that their house was struck by lightning during thunderstorms Thursday evening.
A huge emergency response lined up outside of the Showfield community on Gills Neck Rd. Firefighters from Milton, Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, and Indian River were all on scene.
Details are still sparse, but the Lewes Fire Department confirmed to CoastTV News Thursday night that the house on Show Jumper Ln. did sustain damage.
No injuries were reported. This is now being investigated by the state fire marshal.
