Nature: Alarm Sounding

Location: 34507 Half Shell Pond Rd Pots Nets Bayside, DE 19966

On Saturday, March 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an alarm sounding incident on Half Shell Pond in the Pot Nets Bayside development.  It was reported that the smoke detectors are going off but no visible smoke or odor.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial 360 degree evaluation to identify location of utilities and external conditions, preliminary discussion with the homeowner and then an internal evaluation.

It was identified that a leaking roof condition allowed water to protrude into a smoke detector in the rear of the structure causing the alarm. The homeowner was so notified.

All units were permitted to return to their respective quarters.
