Nature: Shed (Non-Vehicle Size)

Location: 33 Pinewater Dr., Pinewater Farms, DE 19951

On Friday morning, March 15^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a shed fire in the vicinity of 33 Pinewater Drive in the Pinewater Farms development.  It was reported that the shed was engulfed in flames and spreading towards the residential structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included activation of fire suppression attack lines to suppress the fire and protect the residential exposures, water supply, and overall incident mitigation. 

It appears the residential owner was utilizing a burn pit for a controlled burn that was not fully suppressed and with the windy conditions spread into a nearby utility shed encompassing multiple pieces of small equipment and spreading into the nearby wooded lot.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
