On Wednesday, February 21^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in collaboration with the Indian Mission Church offered its inaugural Welcome Wednesday event with - Guest Speaker Rebecca N. Doye, Esq.  These events are a community outreach campaign to directly engage and inform our community on a variety of topics.

The inaugural guest speaker was Rebecca N. Doyle, Esquire Rebecca N. Doyle, Esquire of Doyle Law, LLC to discuss estate planning and options available to make it easier and faster for loved ones to assist an individual upon incapacity or death, and the impact of failing to properly plan.

Rebecca discussed what estate planning is and the purpose of a Durable Power of Attorney, Healthcare Directive, Will and Trust.  She also explained probate avoidance tools, including adding beneficiaries, transfer on death (TOD) and pay on death (POD) designations to financial accounts, and Revocable Trusts.

Rebecca discussed the importance of not adding children to assets as a joint owner and what individuals should do instead. Finally, she will explained the impact to individuals who do not have their estate planning completed upon incapacity or death.

This initial event was attended by approximately 40 interested persons that actively participated with the dialogue as well as question and answer session thereafter.
