Nature: Firefighter Training – Aerial & High Rise Building Evolutions

Location: Lewes, DE

On Tuesday evening, February 20th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was invited to partake with firefighter training evolutions with the Lewes (82) Fire Department.  Other invited companies included Rehoboth Beach (86) and Milton (85) fire companies.  These training evolutions were designed to enhance firefighters, officers and incident commanders understanding of the capabilities of aerial and tower ladders and how they can most effectively be integrated into the fireground, while building confidence in utilizing trucks properly as well as understanding their capabilities.

Firefighters reviewed procedures for stabilization, aerial device operation, and the tactical deployment of aerial devices while other firefighters participated in ground ladder placements, search and rescue victim evolutions, extrication of patients from elevated areas, high-rise pack and hose handling for elevated levels.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company would like to acknowledge and thank the Lewes Fire Department for coordinating and hosting such an event.

Illustrated herewith are a few photographs of the activities.
