Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 25992 Starboard Dr Long Neck Village, DE 19966

 

On Tuesday, February 20th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), Lewes (82), and Rehoboth Beach (86) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Starboard Drive in the Long Neck Village.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics. It was reported that electric work was done earlier and smells smoke under the home with the breaker box being hot.

Emergency response apparatus from Indian River included Rescue 80, Utility 80-11 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-1 and 80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were assigned to evaluate and investigate the residential structure including and an exterior and interior of the residence as well as the crawl space.  It was determined that the electric outlets were suspect with the fuse panel having indicators of high heat temperatures.  The electrical breakers and mains were shut off and the homeowners were apprised to contact an electrician.

All emergency units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
