Nature: Celebratory Escort – Sussex Central Wresting Team – DIAA Division 1 State Champions
Location: Georgetown, Delaware
On Saturday evening, February 17th, Sussex Central High School celebrates its first Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) Division I Dual Team Wrestling title since 2017. The Millsboro (83), Georgetown (77), Indian River (80), and Gumboro (79) fire companies provided apparatus to develop an impromptu Celebratory Escort from the Ellendale area back to the Sussex Central High School via the Town of Georgetown. This fire truck escort was to usher newly awarded Division I State Wrestling Champions back to Sussex Central High School.
The Sussex Central High School attendance feeder pattern encompasses the fire districts of Indian River, Georgetown, Gumboro, and Millsboro and many of our volunteer fire company members have direct affiliation with the wrestling team.
The Sussex Central High School Wrestling Head Coach Shane Miller, Assistant Coach Jacob Miller and Assistant Coach Duane Hoffman are firefighters with the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. Sussex Central Wrestler Jimmy McLane and his father Mickey McLane are also volunteer firefighters with Indian River.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company extends our congratulatory remarks to wrestlers, wrestling staff, coaching staff, wrestling boosters and everyone else involved with this wrestling season.
Congratulation Sussex Central Wrestling Team on such an accomplishment!
