Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: Legion Rd and John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

 

On Friday, February 16th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Legion Road.  It was reported to be two vehicle collision with entrapment.  The Millsboro (83) Fire Company and EMS as well as the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2 and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad were alerted for assistance.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Responding fire police were ordered to close John J. Williams Highway at Bay Farm Road / Autumn Road and Oak Orchard Road / Mount Joy Road for the duration of the incident.

Emergency response units were directed to the incident location and requested to assist with patient extrication, patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control and overall incident mitigation efforts. The aviation unit was cancelled and not needed to transportation.

It appears that a Hyundai Elantra sedan and a Ford Fusion sedan collided on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Legion Road.  Both vehicles sustained damage with the Hyundai having vehicle extrication measures to remove the driver’s side door.  The EMS personnel evaluated and transported one child and two adults to the local medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

3 Injured in Oak Orchard Crash Friday

Indian River emergency personnel responded to a vehicle crash just after noon on Friday at Legion Road and Route 24. Delaware State Police say a Hyundai driven by a 23 year-old Millsboro woman was northbound on Legion Road and failed to stop for the stop sign and collided with a Ford driven by an 82 year old Millsboro woman. Both drivers and a 4-year old passenger in the Hyundai were transported to local medical facilities.

The driver of the Hyundai was cited for failure to remain stopped at a stop sign, no valid license, no proof of insurance and child not in a child seat.
