Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 35487 Joann Dr Mariners Cove, DE 19966

On Saturday morning, February 3^rd, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82) and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Joanne Drive in Mariner’s Cove off Long Neck Road. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial 360 exterior evaluation, location of utilities, and commencement of an interior evaluation after face to face with occupant and identifying an odor of smoke in a rear bedroom possibly electrical.  Emergency response assignments were reduced to Engines #80-3 and 83-1 for further evaluation.  The electrical breaker for the area of the structure were shut off.

The residential occupant was advised to consult with an electrician.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.
