Peninsula Lakes group gives pet oxygen masks to first responders

The PL Cares Animal Lovers Group, comprising resident volunteers of the Peninsula Lakes community in Millsboro, recently presented the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company with two sets of pet oxygen mask kits and Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad with one.

This donated mask kits were purchased through the Wag'N O2 Fur Life Program at petoxygenmasks.org. While firefighters attempt to get pets safely out of burning structures, they are not able to revive them unless they have the proper equipment – pet oxygen masks. These specially designed animal masks can be used both on conscious pets that have suffered from smoke inhalation and pets that need to be resuscitated after losing consciousness from exposure to toxic fumes.

The PL Cares volunteer group is chaired by Debbie Dooley and Jane Heaton. Patty Halko coordinated the oxygen mask initiative.

The presentation was made at the monthly meeting of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company at Station One in Oak Orchard with President Patrick Miller and many members in attendance. Representing Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad were Gene Forshey and Damian D’Avanzo. Several members of PL Cares Animal Lovers group were also present.
